Bi-Weekly Current Event #5

The topic I picked this week was on a car starting to be made with a thing on the windshield that has the apps on it from your phone.

Lavars, Nick. "Transparent HeadsUP! display puts smartphone apps in your face." Gizmag. Gizmag, 21 Nov. 2013. Web. 22 Nov. 2012. <http://www.gizmag.com/next-headsup-display-smartphone/29842/>

Through this article it is explain this new brilliant idea these people have came up with to the solution of  texting and driving. It’s a windshield thats interact with texting, phone calls, emails, and also GPS. All it does is connected to your Android or iOS device.  For safety concerns Lavars says “around a transparent display mounted in front of the windshield that gives drivers control of their most commonly used phone applications without taking their eyes off the road.”

When I involve my life with this new technology, I think it’s going to be really good but a little bad at the same time. On the good side it is a better solution to the texting and driving and talking on the phone. This way you have something speaking to you and you’re speaking about to it for texting. With the phone calls you can tell it to call somebody and it pretty much acts as a Bluetooth throughout your car. Then on the bad side of things it is distracting. Like myself, if I am driving and I see this thing in my view it’s going to draw my attention to it and I will keep looking at it.

The impact on the world could be both great and bad at the same time. Yes, there may be a decrease in the texting and driving accidents. People will think these are the coolest things and way more safer than texting with your hands. But they may be more safer, they could still be a distraction to people. Then again it may just be the person using it to tell if it is just as bad thing. I think this would be useful to most people in the world that drive. These new displays might just change the statistic of driving accidents that take so many peoples lives.

Bi-Weekly Current Event #4

The topic I chose to read and write about was the new idea of people making a driverless car.

Harrison, Victoria. "Driverless cars coming to U.K. in 2017." CNN Money. Cable News Network, 8 Nov. 2013. Web. 8 Nov. 2013. <http://money.cnn.com/2013/11/08/technology/innovation/driverless-cars-uk/index.html>

 Money CNN

"Driverless cars coming to U.K. in 2017."

In this article it is talking about a new car coming out in a few years that nobody has to drive. The new driverless car "will travel at about 12 miles per hour and use sensors to avoid obstacles" says Harrison. Also that there has already been cars made that do this but these will be the first for anybody to own.

When learning about this new car I wonder how this will effect the world we live around. I think it's really cool that there will be these cars that you don't have to drive yourself. But with the driverless cars, I have a ton of questions behind the facts on them. It makes me wonder the ages in order to drive these cars. If young teenagers are allowed to drive these they might abuse the privilege of having it.

How I think this will affect our world is greatly. The all new car that drives itself will be high in demand all around the world. People will be going crazy to buy it and making all kinds of loans to get it. There is no telling how expensive these cars will be. The men and women getting all the loans will cause a bunch debt. So in my opinion making these cars are a great advance in technology but a waste of money.

Current Event #3.

The topic I choose to write about is a company wanting and planning on making the first metal printer.

Quick, Darren. "Amaze Project Aims To Put First 3D Metal Printer On The ISS." Gizmag. Gizmag, 17 Oct. 2013. Web. 18 Oct. 2013. <http://www.gizmag.com/esa-amaze-project-3d-printer-iss/29447/>

In this article it is about the creation of a printer printing out a metal 3d object. It's explaining the how this would be possible and who's supplying all the stuff. Also, throughout this article it talks about the new technology that could lead to this printer.

After reading this article it makes me wonder. If we make this printer then how could it affect different lifestyle. I think it's a pretty cool idea but on the other hand very expensive. All of the materials you'd need would just be outrageous. This would mainly affect my government with all the cost of this going us.

This will impact the would greatly, good and bad. We could start to conserve trees more but we'd change the metal business. This is bettering the technology increase though the world. “We need high quality, we need it to be repeatable, and we need a supply chain." says John Meyer, about the higher demand in advances in technology. People will start moving towards this printer instead of what we currently have now.

Bi Weekly Blog Post #3.

Dear Readers,

The past two weeks have been great! We have been doing really cool stuff in all our class. I got my report card yesterday and I had really good grades on it. The new terms we learned about was online predator, stereotypes, manipulating. Online predator is somebody that goes on the internet to have a relationship with a teenager or child. Stereotype is what our view of different stuff is without knowing the proper things. Then manipulating is just the proper word for being pressured into stuff for only one's benefit.

The terms we learned tied into our digital literacy components of "Oops, I broadcasted!", and "Risky Relationships." This is teaching us the positive and negative interactions with people on the internet. It's explaining were stuff is okay and stuff that goes way over the line of being alright.

Our new Web 2.0's are Chogger, and Animoto. Chogger is a online comic maker that is free. We used it to make a story about something that ever happen in our life that was broadcast on the internet that wasn't suppose to. Then Animoto is a free 30 sec music video you can make yourself. We had to make 2 different ones, first was "Avoiding Risky Relationships," and "Responsible Online Relationships."

Our new web 2.o's have some really good and bad aspects about Animoto. One good thing would be that you can make short videos about anything. A cool example would be, it could serve as a virtual scrapbook put into a video. The bad things about it is that for the video to be longer you have a pay for it. With Chogger its completely free, fun and really cool. The bad things is that some of the stuff doesn't work sometimes.

Throughout the two weeks of learning all this stuff it's changed my personal life the most. I now know how by hitting send on one little text message could change your life.  Also, I've learned that somebody you trust you've meet online might not be who you think they are. All of this stuff could possibly change anybodies life no matter what the situation is. Now I know that our stereotypes aren't always what you should look for. One other thing would be how to have a good relationship with your boyfriend/girlfriend with online without doing inappropriate things.

Article Blog Post #2

My topic I chose was on China creating a ban on video consoles after 13 years of sales in the country. The title of this article is "China Approves Removal plans for video game console ban after 13 years."

I got this from Slash Gear.

McGlaun, Shane. "China Approves Removal plans for video game console ban after 13 years." Slashgear. Slashgear, 27 Sept. 2013. Media. 27 Sept. 2013. <http://www.slashgear.com/china-approves-removal-plans-for-video-game-console-ban-after-13-years-27299390/>

Throughout this article it is talking about China wanting to start banning stuff people use everyday. An example is video game consoles, and another would be facebook. They think that if they put the ban and take it away the sales will increase.

When I finished reading this article it really confused me. The reason they are putting a ban is to get more sales. Why would they want that? They already have one of the largest sales in the world. So according to Shane McGlaun, "Analyst are predicting that with the console ban lifted, the game industry could see billions of dollars in additional sales"(McGlaun). To me I think the whole thing is really stupid, and they're kind of being selfish.

This hasn't really affected the world much as it has China. They believe this will get better sales after a while. I think that the people of China will be mad at the fact they're using them. China might eventually get the wrong response then what they accepted. By doing this they might loose their profits on people that actually buy the gaming consoles.

Bi-Weekly Blog Post #2

Dear Readers,
My past 2 weeks over all have been really good. There has been so much work we have had to do. Mainly projects have what we've been doing.
One of the new Web 2.0 is called Prezi. All Prezi is, is a interactive PowerPoint presentation. We had to create one on Digital Citizenship explaining what it was. On Prezi you make different types of animations to go from one page to the other. One really cool thing is if you add a pictures from there you search only pictures that are creative commons.
A positive aspect of using Prezi is it's easier to make and the pictures you add are searched as creative commons. Which means the author is giving permission to use their stuff without having to ask. Negative aspects are your stuff could get deleted by accident if your computer crashes.
We have learned two new terms this week, plagiarism and digital citizenship. Plagiarism is taking somebody else work and coping it and using it as your own.  That's including paraphrasing and direct quotes. Common examples would be using papers from commercial web sites, downloading pictures or music without citations, turning in work you bought or downloaded copy and pasting, and paraphrasing or summarizing without citations. Digital Citizenship is using good ethics online. It's what you should and shouldn't do while online.
Digital literacy component this past 2 weeks is good ethics. The ethics we learned were privacy, identity, culture, and respect. Privacy is saying you shouldn't put anything online private about you or anybody else. Identity is being who you are and not somebody you aren't. Culture is saying you shouldn't ever be a cyber bully. Respect is if you decide to get information from somebody else be sure to give them their credit and make citations.
All of the new information has affected who I am online. Now I know what I should and shouldn't be doing online because when its out there, you can't take it back. I'm now aware of how I should compose myself and what I should do.

Bi-Weekly Blog: Article Post

Dear Readers,

The article topic I chose was about Google and Android phone apps being downloaded and a month after getting deleted right off the phone. The title of the article is "Google Is Waging War on Apps That Attack and Steal From Your Phone."

This article is from Mashable

Mirani, Leo. "Google Is Waging War on Apps That Attack and Steal From Your Phone." Mashable.  Quartz, 5 Sept. 2013. Web.  6 Sept. 2013.<http://mashable.com/2013/09/05/google-changes-play-app-store/

Within the article it is discussing how people can download a app from the play store and a month later it disappears off your phone. Now its happen more frequently  on peoples phone its starting to worry all the creators. Throughout a month there has been " 36,000 apps removed from Google Play that Berlin studies show"(Leo Mirani.)

Myself being a Android phone user concerns me if that will start happening to my apps. If my apps are disappearing then I might wondering if my phone is safe to use anymore. Now that I know this is occurring it makes me think if I should stop downloading apps or not. I feel this will start affecting the way I use my phone. I might stop using the Google play until they fix the problem.

This problem is having a negative affect on our technology world. It's causing people to feel unsafe using there own cell phone or electrical device that has play store on it. The largest impact will be on Google play. There's going to be more people not using it. They're most likely going to start switching to a something that's safe and reliable if a change isn't made.

Bi-Weekly Blog Post #1

Dear Readers,

My first 2 weeks of school were crazy and hectic but amazing. The stuff we have done in Intro to Publications was very exciting and I know it will be very helpful in my life when I get done with schooling. Throughout my class my brain has been on overload. We go at such a fast pace its hard to get use to it all. But it may be hard, I'm getting into a good cycle with doing all my class and their work they give us. After awhile it'll be a regular thing.

Though the week our focus on the term has been on copyright and learning the way of internet cites and going digital. While I was learning copyright I actually found out what it meant. It's a law that protects a creator’s ownership. Also we learned about was the Fair Use rules. All that says is you have to use others works correctly and you don't plagiarize anything.

I have learned so many web 2.0's. One of the main one we have is Schoology. Some others that are really new would be Quizlet, Codecademy, and Blogger. My teacher is big on doing all of our stuff on any type of technology. Schoology is basically what we do all of our assignments and homework on. Quizlet is where we go to study stems. The Codecademy we learning coding and the language of computers. Through learning the new web 2.0's its affected the way I learn and interact with stuff from school. It's taught me how to be responsible and be more independent.

A positive aspect of our new web tools is it helps us better understand how the computer and internet really works. It has us on technology learning more about it everyday. Also, it teaches us we have to keep up with our stuff and responsibility. Then the more we start using the computers the less we'll be cutting down trees and messing up the environment. A negative aspect is we'll let the technology start controlling our everyday life too much.

All of this new information has affect my personal/academic life greatly. It's made it better to know that my teachers a more about incorporating our everyday life into our school life. Also, it surprised me at how much were doing on the computers, laptops, and our cell phones. Then having our teachers trust us with going on the internet and interact with different stuff is really amazing. It shows everybody that maybe teachers actually like us!
