Bi-Weekly Blog Post #2

Dear Readers,
My past 2 weeks over all have been really good. There has been so much work we have had to do. Mainly projects have what we've been doing.
One of the new Web 2.0 is called Prezi. All Prezi is, is a interactive PowerPoint presentation. We had to create one on Digital Citizenship explaining what it was. On Prezi you make different types of animations to go from one page to the other. One really cool thing is if you add a pictures from there you search only pictures that are creative commons.
A positive aspect of using Prezi is it's easier to make and the pictures you add are searched as creative commons. Which means the author is giving permission to use their stuff without having to ask. Negative aspects are your stuff could get deleted by accident if your computer crashes.
We have learned two new terms this week, plagiarism and digital citizenship. Plagiarism is taking somebody else work and coping it and using it as your own.  That's including paraphrasing and direct quotes. Common examples would be using papers from commercial web sites, downloading pictures or music without citations, turning in work you bought or downloaded copy and pasting, and paraphrasing or summarizing without citations. Digital Citizenship is using good ethics online. It's what you should and shouldn't do while online.
Digital literacy component this past 2 weeks is good ethics. The ethics we learned were privacy, identity, culture, and respect. Privacy is saying you shouldn't put anything online private about you or anybody else. Identity is being who you are and not somebody you aren't. Culture is saying you shouldn't ever be a cyber bully. Respect is if you decide to get information from somebody else be sure to give them their credit and make citations.
All of the new information has affected who I am online. Now I know what I should and shouldn't be doing online because when its out there, you can't take it back. I'm now aware of how I should compose myself and what I should do.
